I like the way President Obama holds his temper. I have seen blatant disrespect of him on television that I personally know that I would not be able to keep my cool if I were in the same situation. I don’t think that you have to like everything a person stands for and you certainly don’t have to agree but I do think that each person deserves respect without the hidden racism or criticisms that he often receives. This may be just because he is the president but either way I feel that someone else in these situations might respond differently.
I think that his calm demeanor helps to keep situations under control and encourages respect ofothers. I would want to model myself after him because I have dealt with racism and it is not always easy
to maintain a sense of composure. For me, keeping my cool and showing others is the ultimate sign of my
strength because I feel that it would take a lot to show people that I can be Godly even if they aren’t.
DeWana,
ReplyDeleteI agree with that everyone, especially public figures do not deserve to be disrespected. He is our President and that should demand the highest of respect. I agree that we do not have to agree
but we do have to respect.
Sometimes it is difficult to keep your cool, this is the time I get into trouble, keeping my cool. Most often I express my frustration by crying.
Thank you for your post.

DeWana,
ReplyDeleteAs a wife, mother, teacher, friend and any other title I decide to take on in helping others. I believe common respect is do that person regardless of the out come of the help. Our President is tried verbally with disrespect he is not recognized verbally as the President of the United States. But, he stands and moves follow to build and settle the things he promised to do. I would love to communicate with people of difficult roles to view the outcome.
What a heart felt post! I loved how you talked about respect--that seems key when communicating with others. I can feel your passion when you discuss the President. Enjoyed!
ReplyDeleteDeWana,
ReplyDeleteI think that every person has problems communicating at times. I know a woman who boasts that she has not problems communicating and often she is disrespectful in her boasting.
DeWanna,
ReplyDeleteI think this was an insightful, preliminary subject, I think throughout this course we definitely refer back to these mentors.

DeWana,
ReplyDeleteI love your posting!!! My mom and I were just talking about President Obama and all of the craziness, rasicm, and backlash he encounters daily. No other President was treated like this and it is so frustrating to hear it on the news. However, as you said he keeps cool and shows no emotion towards this negativity. On the other hand, you always heard side comments from President Bush and they swept it under the rug. Congress and other political figures are upset because he stands for what he believes and doesn't allow them to knock him down. When and if he does....he will bounce right back for another challenge. I would hope by now 2012 rasicm would cease! We as educators have to get the word out of fairness and equalness.
